200 mph on ice by Bentley

Bentley Continental GT sets speed record, and shows how it handles on ice

In an amazing show of power, a privately owned Bentley Continental GT has beaten the world record for speed on ice. Driven by four-times World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen, the Bentley Continental GT smashed the world ice speed record reaching an average speed of 199.86mph (321.65km/h) on frozen sea off the coast of Finland.

The only modifications were the addition of a rollover cage, snow tires, and minor changes to the aerodynamics. Although the best average speed was 199.86mph (321.65km/h), on different runs the car was timed at 205 and 206 mph one-way!

The previous ice speed record of 184.14mph (296.34km/h) was set by a Bugatti EB110 Supersport at the same place some years ago.

So if the Bentley Continental GT can do that sort of speed on ice, you can see that it handles well on normal roads. But we have got a video showing just how the Bentley Continental GT, which weighs over two tons, can be thrown around on ice, and kept on the track. Watch
